All the applicants must be between the ages of 20 to 25 years, the age limit will vary depending on the various posts. The least degree required of interested individuals is 10+2 or graduation from a recognized university. The recruitment drive is open for single male candidates. In order to be eligible to apply for the UPSC CDS exam, candidates must meet certain requirements related to age, qualifications, nationality, physical fitness, etc. Those who do not meet the requirements for UPSC CDS Eligibility would be excluded. UPSC CDS Age Limit 2024

The Indian Military Academy (IMA) & Indian Naval Academy (INA) is recruiting for the unmarried male aspirants who are not born earlier than 2nd January, 2000 and not later than 1st January, 2006 are eligible. This implies that 24 years is the maximum age limit. The age limit criteria for the Air Force Academy (AFA), both the candidates male and females should be between 20 to 25 years of age. There will be an age relaxation of up to 26 years for candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by DGCA (India). A detailed overview of the age limit is shown in the table below.

UPSC CDS Educational Qualification 2024

The aspirants must know that the educational qualification will vary for various sub positions under the Combined Defense Service positions. The table shows the precise details about the qualifications.

UPSC CDS Nationality 2024

All the aspirants must be Indian nationals and they must be permanently settled in India. They must be able to provide all the documents for verification purposes. Or they can be either a:

  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A refugee from Tibet who came over to India before the 01st January 1962 to set in India permanently, or
  • Indian origins who have migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, and Ethiopia or Vietnam to settle permanently in India.

UPSC CDS Physical Eligibility 

The candidates must meet the necessary physical standards and be in good physical and mental health. They must be free from any illness that would make it difficult for them to carry out their duties effectively. Both on land and at sea, in times of peace or conflict anywhere in the world, they must perform well. There should be no signs of underweight, physical anomalies, or a weak constitution.  Refer to the table below for more information.
