SSC JE Salary 2024 details have been announced on the official website of SSC. There are a total of 968 vacancies for which candidates can apply. The salary for SSC JE is in accordance with the regulations of the central government. Those who successfully pass the SSC JE examination are eligible to receive a monthly salary ranging from Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 in CPC pay-level 6. SSC JE Benefits and Allowances 

In addition to the basic pay, Junior Engineers working in the railways receive various allowances and benefits, which contribute to an overall increase in their salary. Here’s an overview of some of the allowances provided along with the SSC JE basic pay:

  • HRA i.e House Rent Allowance: HRA varies as per the town you’re living in. it’s generally higher in X & Y cities than Z cities. The rate of HRA won’t be but Rs. 5400, Rs. 3600 and Rs. 1800 at X, Y, and Z class cities.
  • Categorization of Cities/Towns Rate of House Rent Allowance- For every month as a percentage of Basic Pay only is allowed. The admissibility of House Rent Allowance (HRA) shall be as under:-X cities: 24%, Y cities: 16%, Z cities: 8%. 
  • Dearness Allowance- The Dearness Allowance may be a cost of living adjustment allowance and is currently 17% of basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. When Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 25%, the rates of HRA are going to be revised to 27%, 18% & 9% for X, Y & Z class cities respectively and further revised to 30%, 20%, and 10% when DA crosses 50%.
  • Travel allowance- The travel allowance for traveling depends upon the space you travel daily from home to figure. Your allowance will increase if you’re required to try to do more fieldwork.
  • Medical Allowance- To make sure that railway employees can provide for their day-to-day medical expenses, the railway provides a fixed medical allowance for them. The government will bear the medical costs for them just in case of a medical emergency also.
  • Other Special Allowances: Other allowances in JE through SSC are additionally eligible for other special allowances like recreational activities, leaves, etc.
