The National Testing Agency has released the much awaited exam dates for the CSIR NET exam. The exam will take place between 25th to 27th July, 2024. The NTA earlier released the CSIR NET Syllabus 2024 through an official notification. The candidates must know the most important update which is the exam now will take place in a computer based mode. Earlier, the candidates used to take the exam offline through the pen and paper mode.
Apart from this, the syllabus is very important for the candidates who will be attending the examination. The exam is conducted only for 5 subjects: Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. The syllabus varies for each subject and the applicants must know the detailed syllabus which acts as a guide during the preparation of the examination. CSIR NET Syllabus 2024
There are 3 parts in the examination – Part A, B and C. The syllabus for Part A is common, but for Part B, it varies subject-wise. Part B in this section is as per the core subject. Below is the detailed syllabus.
CSIR NET General Aptitude Syllabus
Part ‘A’ of the examination will be uniform across all subjects and will consist of a maximum of 20 General Aptitude questions. Candidates are expected to answer any 15 questions, each carrying two marks. This section will account for a total of 30 marks out of 200 for the examination.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Structure
The exam will take place in a computer based mode which is now the candidates will not have to use pen and paper for the exam. The CBT mode will be followed as per the official notice by the National Testing Agency. Apart from this, check the exam pattern thoroughly.
- Candidates must select one subject from the options: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Earth Sciences
- The examination carries a total weightage of 200 marks and is scheduled for 3 hours. Each question holds a value of 2 marks
- And a negative marking scheme is implemented, deducting 1/4 mark for every incorrect response.
