The exam dates for CSIR NET have been announced by the National Testing Agency on the behalf of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The NTA has announced the exam dates on 28th June, 2024 through a public notice. The exam will take place in a computer based mode between 25th July, 2024 to 27th July, 2024. Earlier, the exam used to take place in an offline mode with pen and paper but now the CBT mode will be followed. Earlier, the exam dates were also postponed but these dates are finalized dates. The exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of applicants for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in various fields of science and technology. What is CSIR NET 2024?
CSIR NET 2024 stands for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test which is conducted by NTA twice every year. It’s an exam conducted to determine if applicants are eligible for certain academic positions. The candidates are thus advised that the Joint CSIR-UGC-NET Examination June-2024, which was planned to take place between June 25 and June 27, 2024, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and logistical challenges. Step 2. Click on the “New Candidate Register Here” button which is on the left hand side. Read the given instructions and proceed.
Step 3. Register by providing the required details like name, phone number, email id, date of birth. You will receive your application number and password..
Step 4: Login using the credentials obtained and you can see the application form flashed on your screen.
Step 5: Fill the details of educational qualification, experience, date of birth, category, fathers name, address, etc.
Step 6: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature.
Step 7: Click on the submit button and pay the registration fee.
Step 8: Download and take a printout of the application for future reference.

CSIR NET Selection Process
The CSIT NET and examination for determining the eligibility for the JRF and Assistant Professor posts. Candidates who qualify the exam can apply for the posts in various institutes and universities.
CSIR NET Eligibility 2024
To attend the examination, the applicant must meet the age limit, educational qualification. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be rejected by the authorities.
Age Limit
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The maximum age is 30 years old.
- Assistant Professor: There’s no upper age limit for applying.
- PhD Admission: Age is not a factor for applying through Joint CSIR-UGC-NET for PhD programs.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent examination from recognized universities/ institutions.
CSIR NET 2024 Exam Structure
- Candidates must select one subject from the options: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Earth Sciences
- The examination carries a total weightage of 200 marks and is scheduled for 3 hours. Each question holds a value of 2 marks
- And a negative marking scheme is implemented, deducting 1/4 mark for every incorrect response.
