- Each portion of the written test earns 20 points.
- The candidates will have one hour and forty minutes to complete the written test.
- The total number of marks for all components is 100.

Physical Measurement
Candidates who are deemed qualified in the written test (first phase) will participate in the second selection process at various recruitment centers as determined by HQ DG BSF. The second selection phase will be primarily qualifying. The shortlisted candidates will be allowed to take the physical measurement exam. Candidates will be checked, and only those who meet the minimal physical standards, such as height and chest (chest is only applicable to male candidates), will be allowed to take the next exam. Shorthand Test
Candidates for the position of ASI (Steno) who demonstrate eligibility in physical measurements will be permitted to take the stenography speed exam. Candidates who choose to take the test in ‘English’ must transcribe the material in 50 minutes, while those who choose ‘Hindi’ must do it in 65 minutes. Candidates will be asked to transcribe their shorthand notes on a computer. Candidates who make up to 10% (80 words) of the time will be declared “passed.”. Those who make more than 10% (80 words) of the time will be marked as “failed.”
Documentation
Candidates must bring all original documents proving their age, educational qualification, caste certificate, and any other testimonials or certificates necessary for the above positions with them during the documentation process.
Medical Examination
Candidates who complete all of the above stages of the recruitment process will be submitted to a comprehensive medical examination (DME). Following the stenography exam, the detailed medical examination will be conducted at the scheduled locations.
