The Union Public Service Commission has released the UPSC IAS Final Results and also released the names and lists of UPSC IAS toppers. Aditya Srivastava is announced as the topper of UPSC 2023. It is quite inspiring how Aditya Srivastava came from a little village in Bhitauli, Lucknow, to get the title of All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. His story depicts how one can go from failure to success if they are committed and determined to their goal.
Aditya Srivastava’s Educational Background
Aditya received his education from the CMS Lucknow branch located in Aliganj. He scored a 95% in his 12th. He completed his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees at IIT Kanpur and was awarded a gold medal. Aditya stated in his interview that he spent fifteen months employed with Goldman Sachs. How he advanced was heavily influenced by his educational background. A solid foundation was created because of his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.
Aditya Srivastava’s Motivations for Choosing the Civil Services
- Aditya Srivastava revealed his father’s wisdom, which has always inspired him, during a speech at a Lucknow college event: “Today’s labor will give you lifelong happiness, not just to you but also to other people, not just your family.”
- Srivastava did not make the snap decision to enter the Indian Administrative Services (IAS). He openly discussed how his early emphasis on financial stability led to his business career. But he came to understand that motivation wasn’t solely driven by money.
- He saw the Civil Services as a way to “have an impact on grassroots levels” and “contribute positively to the system.” He was also drawn to the idea of being able to develop within a framework.
Aditya Srivastava’s Rank in 2022
- The now UPSC Topper, Srivastava, failed the Civil Services Exam in his attempt in 2022, which makes his accomplishment even more amazing. He chose to join the Indian Police Service (IPS) after placing 236th in the 2022 UPSC CSE.
- He is now receiving training at Hyderabad’s National Police Academy. His father, Ajay Srivastava, is an assistant audit officer at the Comptroller and Auditor General of India; thus, his family’s support and his own tenacity and determination have no doubt contributed significantly to his ascent to the top spot in 2023.
- His father proudly exclaimed, “Aditya called us over the phone from Hyderabad to share the news. We were all very confident that he would do well in UPSC this year. But we never expected him to be topper in UPSC. This is like icing over cake. It’s a proud moment for the family.”
